Instagram

While I thoroughly enjoy using Instagram I find it very frustrating when I keep getting temporarily blocked for going through my feed too fast. Apparently I am not supposed to try and catch up with the posts from people I follow or who follow me,and if I try they block me and tell me I am going to fast which confuses them and they think I am a spambot. I only mention this as it is annoying and frustrating as I cannot be on 24/7 Just to keep up with everybody's posts so please #Instagram get your act together.

Time for a change

I took a decent enough photo of a local church spire but then decided I was not happy with it so messed around with different filters and this was the result. The black and white is the original photo while the other is the same one just edited using three filters and cropping the size, the filter used were solarizer, negative and old photo then solarized again to get the effect you can see.

Europe once more

If ever their was a sign telling us to leave the E.U. it is the latest statement from them telling us to build houses for more refugees excuse me while I laugh there is not enough social/local authority housing for people already living in this country without us being told to build more specifically for refugees.

In or Out of Europe

These are my thoughts on it, I have been reading and listening with a little interest into the reasons we should stay or leave the E.U. and to be honest I think they are all trash taking each other, the only real thing is the uncertainty of what will happen either way. Which is basically the same as when we joined the E.U. back in the 70's , they also keep going on about how many jobs will be saved if we stay but how about the millions of jobs and loss of our core manufacturing industries we have lost since we joined. Me personally I will be voting to leave as how much worse can this country get than it is already as I said these are my thoughts so please do not bother replying to this.

Migrant Artist Show

Yesterday I was priviliged to be invited to the preview of an art exhibition by a friend who was one of the artists, when I got their I was completely awestruck by the talent and work of the four artists involved. If you are in Newcastle I would recommend heartily that you drop in and take a look in you will be pleasantly surprised it is at the Holy Biscuit 1 Clarence Street and runs from the 9th to the 14th June it is open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. these are just 4 pieces 1 by each artist the pity is my photos do not do them justice.

My thoughts on the bus

Please be aware these are entirely my own thoughts in a satirical sort of way. While sitting on the bus heading out on my daily journey it amazes me the different people you see either getting on the bus or waiting for one or a lift off a friend or work colleague from students to office workers and manual workers. First lets start with the students some dress like they have slept in their clothes others are dressed to the nines as if they have a heavy date or going out on the drink hoping to get lucky, you also have the ones who look the part nice and casual no make up insight by this you could say these are the more natural and confident in themselves that they do not hide behind a fake facade. Next the more mature or supposedly mature bus users you have the men who try and get away with dying their hair and trying to dress and talk trendy while you have some of the women and here I will use an old adage mutton dressed like lamb, some manage to carry it off others will put you off your dinner the same is also true of the men. And finally of course you have those who dress and act their age, unfortunately I am not one of them as I still dress and act like I did in the Eighties.

My Phototgraphy

Just lately while out taking photos I have started treating my digital camera like a film camera in most ways except I take more than the usual 36 frames, for a start before I take a photo I turn my monitor off and block it so I am not tempted to do any on camera editing or check the results of the shot, so I do not know what they are like until I get home and upload them to my laptop, just like waiting for them to be developed lol. If you try this you might be surprised with the results here are a few examples that surprised me.

Scottish Independence

These are my own personal thoughts on Scottish Independence I also apologise for the lack of punctuation. Have those in charge really thought out the problems this can cause 1) Border disputes if a farmers land is on both sides of the border does this mean they have to go through border control to get from one field to the next. 2) Bus passes where as at the moment people with passes can travel freely south of the border if they gain indepence then surely this ability will be removed. 3) Membership of the E.U. they will have to apply to become a member with no guarantee they will be accepted thus making it harder for business relationships in Europe. These are just some of my thoughts while wishing them all the best I would also urge caution.

The Settle Down Cafe

I found this cafe a few months ago and have decided that the unique decor and friendly staff as well as freshly made food, make me want to share it with others, the food and coffee as well as an assortment of teas and soft drinks at reasonable prices make it truly worthy of a visit in themselves but it has also been voted 2 years in a row in the Observer food guide as the best cheap eats in the North.

The Basement Coffee House

This good little indie coffee house is based in Newcastle at 9 - 11 Carliol Square Newcastle NE1 6UF 0191 2411534. The interior is well lit and the staff very friendly, they serve a good selection of hot and cold drinks and fresh food, I tried a cappuccino and it was of better than some of the main stream coffee chains, as well as good food and drink they also have free WiFi so you can keep up to date while enjoying your repast, remember though I am doing this for pleasure not profit as I think Indie Coffee Houses deserve more support.

Mikaids and The French Oven

While out for a wander I came across this great little coffee shop Mikaids for those interested it is at 17 Grainger Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 5DQ this is a great little place with nice friendly staff, a great varieties of teas and coffees and good food at very reasonable prices. I had myself a cappuccino and a sandwich the cappuccino was very good and the sandwich was excellent and made with fresh artisan baked bread from the French Oven 27/28 Grainger Market, after finishing my snack I decided to check out The French Oven and found the range of breads and cakes they make daily really good and fab tasting so this is another place I would highly recommend you take a look at the next time you are in Newcastle.
